“Dump Rock” 2021. 6 feet x 5 feet.

DUMP ROCK is a large painting of an 8 foot tall rock slowly receding into a distorted lake. The rock is located in a glacial reservoir, and was the subject of many stories me and my friends crafted while camping nearby the rock in July 2020.
DUMP ROCK speaks to an unconventional and obtuse reality, a world that we build, a world that we find joy and laughter in. The rock, it became a landmark, a myth, a character. I pull much of my inspiration for this painting to those tales, odd recurring jokes, and folk stories that were spun that weekend. The painting is an example of the comedy that you can find within a strange set of circumstances, a set of strange people, and rocks. It is an outrageously overstated homage to the people you choose to share the world with.
